Some ThinkPad Edge systems with Optimus graphics will not correctly detect the NVIDIA GeForce 710m video subsystem

TITLE:
Some ThinkPad Edge systems with Optimus graphics will not correctly detect the NVIDIA GeForce 710m video subsystem.

SYMPTOM:
Some Optimus enabled systems will only detect and install Intel Video drivers instead of both Intel and NVIDIA device driver.

AFFECTED CONFIGURATIONS:

ThinkPad

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:

E431 (6277xxx)
E531 (6885xxx)

OPERATING SYSTEMS:
Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft Windows 8
SUSE Linux

LIMITATIONS:
The user will be unable to fully use the Graphics capabilities unless the NVIDIA driver is loaded.

SOLUTION:
Use provided workaround for any system displaying these symptoms.

WORKAROUND:
The user should follow the workaround steps below:

1. Power on and Press F1 key to enter the Setup menu.
2. Press F9 key to load the default and then press F10 key to save and
    exit.
3. Boot to Windows and confirm the NVIDIA device has appeared in Device
     Manager.
4. Install the NVIDIA driver.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The manufacturing tools were corrected to prevent this issue on future system production.
